More is definitely better and particularly so for digital platform which do not have to put up with any geographic restrictions. Just cast an eye to how publishing giants such as ‘New York Times’ and WSJ expand their news services to reach more readers and unique visitors.

India Ink is a nine-month-old digital publication of NYT featuring India-specific news, including culture, politics, sports, art and lifestyle. It targets readers from India, which has a large number of NYT readers. But the majority of readers are visiting the blog from even outside of the Indian Diaspora and from around the world.

The Wall Street Journal launched ‘Indonesia Real Time’, an online site in Bahasa that features daily insight and analysis on law, policy, economics and culture. “Our focus will remain on providing readers across multiple geographies, languages and platforms with the news and analysis they need to make informed decisions—particularly at a time when their decisions are driven by global markets.” said Almar Latour, editor-in-chief of both The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires in Asia.

The Wall Street Journal is available in Chinese and Japanese-language editions online, which together attract more than five million monthly unique visitors.

Choose whom you want to have sitting beside you on a flight

airBaltic, the Latvian airline, will begin testing at the end of the month SeatBuddy, a system that organizes the distribution of passengers on a flight in accordance with common interests. You will need to mention if you want to talk about work, have a casual conversation or simply be left alone and the system will place you next to someone with the same disposition. Get to pick up someone who works in the same area, speaks the same language or share the same hobbies.

airBaltic claims to be the first company to offer such a service.
