Dubai: If it has been an A-lister’s watering hole of choice over decades, you might as well mark the 50th anniversary in some style. London’s fabled Annabel’s has done so with some pizzazz, through a docu-drama that chronicles the life and times of the destination.

And they have got in a veritable hotshot to do so. Ridley Scott Associates, the production firm helmed by Hollywood hit-maker Ridley Scott and maker of ‘Gladiator’ and ‘Blade Runner’, made the initial approach. “The film is now complete, at first it will be showing in the Curzon cinema in London throughout November and we are currently in discussion with distributors to confirm a wider airing,” said a spokesperson for Annabel’s, which is owned by the clothing tycoon Richard Caring. (It was acquired in June 2007 in a deal valued at £90 million.)

“Many of the people dear to the club’s history -- from Kate Moss to the staff who work there -- appear in the film. (but) it is not only focussed on the celebrity,” the spokesperson said.

“For the very first time, Ridley’s team was given unprecedented access to the archives and the colourful history of the club, from the celebrity A- list and captains of industry who have attended over the years, to the staff who served them. It is, and still remains the only club that The Queen has ever been to.”

The film also features walk-on parts for Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell and Lady Gaga.
