Dubai: A wide range of topics highlighting the significance of social media strategies as key drivers of business growth will be discussed in the Social Media Summit, which will take place on this coming Monday in Dubai.

Mona Al Marri, Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office will deliver the keynote at the inaugural edition of the summit at Armani Hotel, Dubai.

Hosted by AreebaAreeba, the new world social networking website in the Middle East with more than three million active users, the summit will feature speakers from leading global and regional technology and media groups including Google, LinkedIn, Twitter, Microsoft, IBM, du, Etisalat, CNBC Arabia, CNN Arabic, OSN, Nissan, Blackberry, Dubai Media Inc (DMI) and more.

The summit is expected to attract more than 200 delegates from across the region.

“The goal of the of the inaugural edition of the Social Media Summit 2014 falls in line with the vision of the Government of Dubai to utilise of modern technology to catalyse the development of societies in the Arab world,” said Mona Al Marri. “As one of the top world leaders who actively use Twitter to connect with the public, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum was keen to recognise the positive potential of such platforms. His Highness launched the Arab Social Media Award to honour institutions and individuals who employ social media platforms to bring about and sustain positive development within societies,” Al Marri added.

Key presentations at the summit include — “Twitter versus TV — from Second Screen to First, the Intersection of Social, Mobile, and Television” by Steven Kalifowitz, Head of Brand Strategy for MENA, Twitter; “Keeping Up with Changes in a Connected World”, from Social Media to Social Business’ by Mohammad Burhan, Chief Executive Officer, CNBC Arabia; and “A Different View on Social Media that Can Unlock Great Hidden Potential” by Osman Sultan, Chief Executive Officer, du.
