Karachi : Pakistan's key Karachi Stock Exchange 100 Index fell 69.17, or 0.7 per cent, to 10,634.99. Pakistan International Airline Corp rose after it said the European Union lifted a three-year ban on planes that had been barred from flying to the continent for safety reasons.
The airline's share rose Rs0.26, or 11.6 per cent, to Rs2.50, the steepest rise in over four months.
"Almost half our fleet of 40 aircraft had been affected by the ban," Sultan Hassan a spokesman for the airline said by telephone from Karachi yesterday.
"Now all our aircraft have been cleared after a safety audit and this will help us gain business."
Engro Corp, a Pakistani group that makes fertiliser, dairy products and plastics, fell the most in a month, after it reported a decline in third-quarter net profit. The share fell 1.2 per cent to Rs175.56.
