Karachi: The Karachi 100 stock index fell to 9678.38 yesterday, ending 0.87 per cent lower than the day before. Technology, industrial and financial stock retreated the most, while telecom, construction, health care and consumer goods stocks rose.
Loser of the day was chemical company Lotte Pakistan, which lost 9.24 per cent, followed by Bank of Punjab, which went down by 5.79 per cent. The biggest gain was achieved by Gharibwal Cement, which rose by six per cent, and Pakistan Telephone Cable, which gained 3.77 per cent.
Overall turnover was 122.11 million shares, compared with 130.6 million shares traded a day earlier. The market showed concerns that a delay in implementation of value-added tax could cause a halt in the International Monetary Fund.
