Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Friday received Andre Schneider, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, World Economic Forum, on the sidelines of the Global Agenda Summit.
They discussed the global economic situation, in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The also highlighted the role of international and regional economic forums in rearranging the economic and financial conditions after the chaos resulting from former policies in many countries.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Dubai's hosting of the forum, adding that the global event reflects the UAE's status and its role in bringing back optimism and hope about the revival of the global economy and overcoming the financial crisis, which cast its shadows over many international political and economic forums and summits.
The vice-president underscored the importance of activating the recommendations of these forums, especially the Global Agenda Summit in Dubai.
Schneider thanked Shaikh Mohammad for the facilities extended by the Dubai Government to participants, adding that Dubai's hosting of the summit indicates to the world the importance of the UAE and its position on the economy and investment map.
Shaikh Mohammad also received, in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan, Amr Mousa, Secretary General of the Arab League, who is taking part in the summit.
They discussed Arab issues and crises and their negative effects on development plans, which aim to improve living standards, education and health in the Arab nation.
Mousa praised the global status of Dubai and its ability to attract economic decision makers and investment giants, and stressed the great confidence in the UAE in the economic circles and the great respect it enjoys on the political level.
