Dubai: The Federal National Council (FNC) Speaker expressed his hope that the UAE developers' projects which did not see the light yet in Algeria will go forward.

"I hope Emirati projects in Algeria will go ahead," said Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, the FNC speaker.

Al Ghurair was answering questions of Algerian reporters at a press conference held in Al Meethaq residence in Algeria.

"I have no clue about the circumstances in which and why its project Dina Park costing Dh5 billion in Algeria did not see the light but what I know is that the developer is a successful company and they have done great projects in the UAE which includes Burj Khalifa and Dubai mall," said Al Ghurair.

When asked by reporters about the obstacles which prevented Emiarti projects from going ahead, Al Ghurair said that if the UAE achieved 15 per cent of its investment plans in Algeria that would be great record.

"We need to make the project to go fast because we cannot wait five years to establish one project which can be done in two years only," he said.

Al Ghurair said that he is encouraging Algerians to go and work in the UAE.

"We have at the moment only 8,000 Algerians in the UAE but we are looking to increase the number to 100,000 Algerians in the UAE," said Al Ghurair.

In his meeting with Ahmad Oyahi, the Algerian Prime Minister, Al Ghurair stressed on the importance of the Emirati investment in Algeria.

Al Ghurair signed with Algerian officials cooperation agreement in various fields.
