Gulf airlines resume normal operations to UK
All Gulf airlines besides global carriers operating between the Gulf and London resumed normal operations Monday barring minor delays
Dubai: All Gulf airlines besides global carriers operating between the Gulf and London resumed normal operations Monday barring minor delays.
Most carriers were forced into cancelling flights Sunday owing to heavy snowfall and poor weather conditions in the UK.
Emirates said Monday in a statement that all its UK flights were "operating as normal".
While Etihad Airways did not cancel any of its flights today, the Abu Dhabi carrier suffered minor delays on two of its flights. Flights EY19 (08:20) from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow and EY20 (01:45) from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi show as "delayed" on Etihad's website.
Similarly, Qatar Airways flight QR5 (07:20) from Doha to London departed approximately half-an-hour later than its scheduled time, according to the carrier's website.
British Airways is the only carrier to have cancelled flights Monday. Two of the British flagship carrier's UK-bound flights from Dubai appear as "cancelled" on BA's website - BA0108 (10:05) and BA0104 (15:40).
Virgin Atlantic, meanwhile, told Gulf News in a statement that its Monday's flights were "running to schedule".
Heathrow airport issued a statement on its website today stating that the airport is "open" with its "usual flight schedule" operating today. "There will, however, be a handful of cancellations as result of yesterday's disruption. Please check your flight before travelling to the airport," the airport warns.
