Dubai: Cavotec Middle East, the UAE-based subsidiary of global engineering group Cavotec MSL, has formally marked its 30 million euro collaboration with the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) by signing a contract on April 6.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cavotec and BAC will work together to develop and integrate a comprehensive range of ground support equipment for Bahrain International Airport.

The turnkey project, one of the largest Cavotec has undertaken, will see the global engineering group integrate a spectrum of state-of-the-art in-ground systems for remote aircraft aprons at Bahrain airport.

These solutions will include 18 pre-conditioned air (PCAir) systems, in-ground pop-up units, transformer substations, 400Hz power supply systems, a Vacuum Evacuation System, a blue water supply system and a potable water supply system.

Held at BAC's premises in Muharraq, Bahrain, the event gathered key representatives from the two organisations, including Dr Osama Al Ali, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company; Ottonel Popesco, Group CEO of Cavotec MSL; Juergen Strommer, Managing Director of Cavotec Middle East, and Ulrich Moritz, Project Director at Cavotec Bahrain.

Lim Ser Hian, adviser to the Bahrain Airport Company, and Abdullah Janahi, Head of Engineering and Maintenance at BAC also attended.

To be completed by February 2011, the new system aims to create a seamless ground process at Bahrain International Airport.

Dr Al Ali said: "With the help and support of Cavotec's advanced technologies, we will be able to achieve a higher level of efficiency and further streamline our operations at Bahrain airport."
