Copenhagen: Danish international striker Nicklas Bendtner, on loan to Juventus from Arsenal, apologised on Sunday after being arrested for drink driving.

“Dear friends I was booked for a mild case of drink driving last night - it was a quite nite [sic] but I am very very sorry to all my friends and fans,” Bendtner tweeted.

“It is not ok to drink and drive. I take full responsibility,” added Bendtner, who said he was “doing my absolute best to come back as soon as possible.

“Forza juve,” the striker signed off on his feed @bendtnerb52.

He was taken to a police station after being caught driving the wrong way down a street in downtown Copenhagen.

“It appears he was over the limit,” his agent Jesper Lynghus told the website of tabloid daily BT.

Bendtner is currently out of action as the 25-year-old recovers from a thigh problem.
