A stomping good time is on its way to Abu Dhabi.

From the cofounder of Cirque du Soleil comes the Middle Eastern debut of equestrian production Cavalia at Qasr Al Hosn. As part of the 2014 Qasr Al Hosn Festival, with shows from February 22-March 1, the production will involve 41 horses and 36 riders, aerialists, acrobats, performers and musicians.

The show, created and directed by Normand Latourelle, has been across North America, Europe and Australia by over 4 million people. For the UAE, the set, costumes and music will be revised to better represent local culture.

“We’re delighted that Cavalia at Qasr al Hosn will be performing in Abu Dhabi as part of the wider Qasr al Hosn Festival activities, especially as equestrian art is intrinsic to Emirati culture and tradition,” said Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.

Latourelle said they are thrilled to bring the show to the capital city.

“It’s also particularly nice to be taking Cavalia to a part of the world where horses have played a fundamental role in the country’s culture and history,” he said.

The show will feature horses and artists performing together against an ever-changing digital background. The set-up allows for horses to gallop at full speed, often without restraint.
