Dubai: Anybody who has lived in Dubai for longer than three years will no doubt remember Trilogy - the three-floor mega-club that dominated the entrance to the Madinat Jumeirah throughout the mid 00s.
The club's three floors unexpectedly shut to the public in February 2008, without any specifc explanation as to why (although there is plenty of speculation).
On Thursday night Trilogy finally reopened to Dubai clubbers old and new, and what better way to replant the club's seed on the city's nightlife patch than to recruit the DJing skills of Mark Ronson - super producer to the stars, hugely sucessful solo artist and not to mention GQ's most stylish male winner.
To say that Ronson opened the club with a bang is an understatement (he did actually open with recent hit Bang Bang Bang). The star proved why he is one of the most respected musicians in the world with a mind-blowing set that saw him spinning the decks without a break for two hours and had the ecstatic crowd eating out of his hand the whole night.
The eclectic set was a mix of his biggest hits, the best hip hop tunes and some of the biggest crowd pleasers from the 60s onwards. There was even a bit of Britney added to the mix, to great applause from the crowd.
While his bright blonde hairdo might not be to everyone's taste, there was little doubt that Ronson provided Dubai clubbers with one of the best club nights the city has ever seen, and gave complete proof that Trilogy is the ultimate force to be reckoned with on Dubai's clubbing scene.
