Dubai: American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold will perform for the first time in the UAE on May 4 at Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. One of the biggest rock acts in the world, the band will kick off their tour in Tokyo, Japan, in April, followed by gigs in Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and then the UAE.
The band, known for their diverse sound and dramatic imagery, released their debut album Sounding the Seventh Trumpet in 2001.Their fifth studio album, Nightmare, out in 2010, peaked at No. 1 and was certified Gold in the US.
“We are excited to go back to the Far and Middle East,” frontman M. Shadows said in a post on their website. “We played to some of the most amazing crowds when we toured the album there, and we can’t wait to bring our live show back to our friends in those regions.”
The band, who has performed in Asia before, also toured with Metallica in 2006 as part of Metallica’s “Escape From The Studio Tour”.
Tickets for the Abu Dhabi gig, priced at Dh315, will go on sale midday on Tuesday (March 13), organiser Flash Entertainment has announced. A limited quantity will be available for Dh295 for fans buying tickets early.
“We had many requests from Heavy Metal and Rock & Roll music fans in the UAE to bring another great gig to Yas Island. Avenged Sevenfold have a huge fan base and we are excited to host them here in Abu Dhabi for the first time,” said Flash Entertainment’s Mira Sadek.
