Electronic music micro-festival in Abu Dhabi

If you’ve always dreamt of becoming an electronic music expert but never knew where to start, here’s your chance to learn. The music program at NYU Abu Dhabi is holding its inaugural “Noise from the Middle East” micro-festival on April 24 at Etihad Towers to promote the genre regionally.

The one-night-only fest, beginning at 6.30pm, aims to bring together musicians and hopefuls from around the Middle East for an evening of shared learning. It will include a panel discussion with musicologist Neil van der Linden and NYUAD associate professor of music, Carlos Guedes.

“Not surprisingly, there is a lot of musical talent in this region,” Guedes said in a press release. “I have organised conferences and festivals of electronic music in the past, which is why I thought it would be a great idea to start activating this area in Abu Dhabi.”

A public workshop will be conducted by artists at the event that will provide a hands-on understanding of electronic music. Established musicians Hasan Hujairi, Mazen Kerbaj, Karim Sultan, and Mahmoud Refat will perform.
