Who's in it? Tom Cruise, Paula Patton, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Anil Kapoor, Michael Nyqvist

The plot Tom returns for the fourth time as uber-agent, Ethan Hunt, 16 years after he first revamped the Mission Impossible franchise and now showing a little more wear and tear, which adds a certain something to the role.

Taking the action global as he jets from Mumbai to Dubai to Moscow in a bid to thwart the villainous Kurt Hendricks (Nyqvist), the movie opens with Ethan's escape from a Russian prison aided by old colleague, Benji (Pegg), before the pair head off to infiltrate the Kremlin to snap up Hendricks' file so they can track him down before he hits the switch on a nuclear weapon.

But just as the pair escape, a massive explosion takes out half the Kremlin, resulting in Hunt being told by his boss that the US will be blamed for the attack, and that as a way to save face, Ethan, his team and the whole Impossible Missions Force are going to be hung out to dry by the US government to take the heat - as per Ghost Protocol.

Permitted to ‘overpower' his boss in order for him and the team to go underground, Hunt and co head to Dubai on the trail of Hendricks, which is where we finally get to see Ethan scale the Burj Khalifa using the power of suction gloves and prayer (totally impressive!), before the crew head to Mumbai, where they finally encounter Kurt.

With agent Brandt (Renner) joining the crew, it soon becomes clear that he and Hunt share a troubled history - one that isn't fully explored here, but which shows promise for the rumoured fifth instalment.
