INTO THE WOODS

If you can’t be bothered watching a half dozen feature length films about fairy tales, you’re in luck. Into the Woods wraps all of your favourite Brothers Grimm characters into a nice neat two hour and 5 minute package, just in time for Christmas.

This film adaptation of the hit musical stars up and comers Lilla Crawford (Little Red Riding Hood), Daniel Huttlestone (Jack and the Beanstalk) and MacKenzie Mauzy (Rapunzel). If you’re looking for star power, Into the Woods has it. Emily Blunt steals plenty of spot light as the Baker’s wife, James Corden is lovable as the Baker, Anna Kendrick dazzles as Cinderella, Johnny Depp give us his interpretation of The Big Bad Wolf and Meryl Streep plays a witch again for the first time since The Devil Wears Prada.

Into the Woods is perfect for all ages and with any luck, it might give the little ones something to sing besides let it go ... but be careful what you wish for.

ANNIE

People have been talking about a remake of this film since we first saw a curly ginger haired kid on our cinema screens back in 1982 and now finally it is here. Some mega famous faces star as the characters we all know and love, Cameron Diaz plays Miss Hannigan and Jamie Foxx plays Annie’s saviour Daddy Warbucks only now they’ve changed it up… he’s called Will Stacks.

Hmmmm…its currently sitting pretty at number 3 box office in the states, maybe people are seeing it for the same reasons we are... ‘what have they done to it!’

TUSK

If you’re a fan of director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Red State) you’ll dig this sadistic, yet humorous horror flick. It stars Justin Long as a podcaster who gets “stitched up” while trying to land an interview with an eccentric, and demented, adventurer (Michael Parks).

There’s a good chance co-star Haley Joel Osment will get a glimpse or two of some dead people before the final frame.

THE WATER DIVINER

Is it war film or a family drama? Perhaps a little bit of both. Russell Crow makes his directorial debut and gives a solid performance as an Australian who travels to war torn Turkey to find his three missing sons. Its Indiana Jones meets Lawrence of Arabia. Now who wants Vegemite on their Doner Kebab?
