JUPITER ASCENDING

If you’ve not seen Eddie Redmayne in the fantastic The Theory of Everything then please see him in that before you see him in this. He’s gone from Oscar-worthy Steven Hawkings to potential razzie winner Balem in this latest. He stars alongside Channing Tatum who is sporting a ginger beard...yes a ginger beard (still want to see this movie?).

From the creators of The Matrix trilogy comes Jupiter Ascending, a well-known cast feature (Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne) in this movie that is a cross between Star Wars and The Matrix…only not as good as either of those classics.

Okay, so it might not be that bad but compared to all the amazing flicks we have out at the moment only see this if you LOVE science fiction!

A MOST VIOLENT YEAR

Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) plays an immigrant trying to run a business and live the American Dream in a corrupt, violent New York City in 1981. It’s THE best film of 2014 not to get a single Oscar nomination. It’s packed with nominees though, Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Albert Brooks (Broadcast News) and David Oyelowo (Selma).

SON OF A GUN

When JR (Brendon Thwaites) winds up behind bars for a minor crime, Australia’s public enemy number one takes him under his wing. It’s not long before things begin to spiral out of control. This one’s got prison breaks, gold heists and double crosses and you get to see a whole new side of nice guy Ewan McGregor.

THE GAMBLER

Mark Wahlberg is back and this time his mum is played by the super cool Jessica Lange. Fresh from her success in the award winning FX TV series American Horror Story she’s back on the big screen in this awesome new film. Jim (Wahlberg) is a professional in more ways than one, literature and gambling. When he gets into a huge scrape, who does he call? His mum (Lange). Based on the 1974 film of the same name and premiering this weekend in the UAE, it’s well worth a watch.
