The plot The most critically-acclaimed movie of the autmn season so far, Looper is a smart action sci-fi that messes with your mind and makes your heart beat faster. Joe (Gordon-Levitt) lives in a world where time travel exists, but is on the black market, and, when the mob wants to get rid of someone they send them 30 years into the past where an assassin, or Looper, like him, will eliminate them without a trace. But then, his victim appears, and it’s himself – which definitely complicates things. The film has enough quiet moments to be absorbing, plenty of good action scenes, dazzling performances and clever ideas – i.e., it’s really very good. New Matrix alert!
