TV mogul Simon Cowell is planning to release 10 musical animations after being inspired by Disney’s Frozen.

Cowell said he was inspired by the massive crossover success of songs such as Idina Menzel’s Let It Go from Frozen, and Pharrell Williams’ Happy from “Despicable Me 2, reports mirror.co.uk.

The 55-year-old said: “Films are a great vehicle for breaking records. Using Frozen as an example, the movie pushed the music and the music enhanced the movie. I think that’s how we’re going to work.”

Cowell’s first project will have him teaming up with Animal Logic, the company behind Happy Feet, to bring back Betty Boop.

According to sources, Betty Boop, based on the squeaky-voiced cartoon character who first appeared in the 1930s, is a “music-driven comedy”.

Cowell said: “Betty is an icon, and one of the biggest stars in the world. I’m thrilled to be working with her.”

He is also working on nine other projects, with releases planned over the next 12 months and into 2016.

A source said: “It is the logical step for him. He already has the biggest TV formats in the world and some of the world’s biggest-selling musicians.

“However, he has always been attracted by the prospect of creating great films that people want to see. He especially loves animation.”
