Iza Calzado won the Best Actress at the 7th Golden Screen Awards for her role in the indie film Dukot. What made it all the more special for Calzado is that she read parts of her speech from her mobile, saying although she prepared a little of what she was going to say, "I never expected to win at all."

Kris Aquino lashed out at critics of her brother Noynoy Aquino, a presidential candidate for the upcoming Philippine elections, by saying she's prepared to stab them. Perhaps said in jest, but the comment backfired with people getting turned off with her seeming inability to handle the heat of election campaigning.
