DUBAI It’s important in any sport to have a proper player pathway to develop players from a young age. From being amateurs to turning professionals, proper coaching and guidance plays a very significant role.

The Dubai Golf junior development programmes do exactly that, helping young golfers understand the nuances of the sport.

Stephen Deane, Head Golf Professional at Emirates Golf Club said: “The Dubai Golf junior development programme includes a combination of skills and physical activities with a focus on fun to ensure the junior golfers really do get the maximum benefit.”

The Dubai Golf Junior Programme has been created for youngsters of all levels of golfing experience aged between seven and 17 years old and follows different levels as participants become more experienced golfers.

The entry level to the programme ensures sound fundamentals are instilled from the beginning and as the child moves through the various stages of development the golf professionals will also focus on the physical, etiquette, rules and on-course performance areas.

The Little Champions programme has been designed specifically for children aged between four and six years old and it’s an ideal way to introduce children to golf. The programme is designed to develop the child’s understanding of the game whilst also working on key fundamental movement skills.

The talented lot are picked for the Elite Junior Programme which is an all-encompassing package that focuses on fitness, on-course playing lessons and offers a more intensive programme with a greater number of sessions to take the talented youngsters to the next level.

The first-of-its-kind programme in the UAE also includes supervised practice, golf specific exercises, strokeplay and technical sessions.

Deane said: “It is a pleasure to work with such a talented and dedicated group of young athletes and help them progress on a daily basis. The programme allows us to work on all aspects of their game and implement the building blocks to success. Bringing such a talented group of players together makes the programme an instant success as they feed off each other’s desire to succeed.”

Chris Perry, General Manager of Wild Wadi said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Dubai Golf Junior Programme. It is great to witness the enthusiasm that the participants have for the game of golf and be part of a initiative that is instrumental in developing the region’s future golfers”
