DUBAI Lucco Racing team’s Ludovic Loffreda believes the Radical Middle East Cup is providing a perfect platform for young racing drivers to showcase their talent in motorsport and grow up the ladder.
“The Radical ME Cup is becoming famous. It’s getting good feedback from motorsport enthusiasts. Since the races are being held in different parts of the region it has helped reach out to many people and made it popular.
“We are getting recognised and thanks to this kind of car (Radical SR3), which is a very unique car, we are getting there,” said Loffreda.
Here at the Dubai Autodrome last weekend, Loffreda and his French teammate Romain Lutter were not at their best in the fourth round of the series but still managed to finish a credible third.
That meant Loffreda is third in the overall standings with 95 points behind leaders Olli Smith (105) and Sergey Shalunov (104), while Lutter is placed fourth with 93.
With two more rounds to go in Abu Dhabi (March 12-13 and April 9-11), Loffreda feels the contest is getting interesting.
Equal opportunities
Optimistic about his team’s chances of winning the title, he said: “Our main goal is to take home the title this year. We are training really hard for this. We constantly are analysing our moves and techniques from our previous races and working on it. We are happy with what we have achieved so far and we are focused on the next two rounds.”
Praising the facilities in the UAE, Loffreda said: “For me, in Dubai circuit it’s more of the nature of the sport - you learn a lot about technicality, you learn to control your car. You can familiarize yourself with the track conditions and learn how to be the best.
“But with Abu Dhabi the circuit gives you this feeling of ‘this is the place to be’. You race there for prestige and to build your reputation as a well-seasoned driver.
“The other thing is being part of motorsport here adds up to one’s profile as you get a chance to rub shoulders with local professionals, and also famous international racers. You get recognised at the same time in the circuit. Radical ME has given our team a serious and professional image and we are honoured to be a part of this prestigious event,” he added.
