DUBAI It will be nonstop football action for one full day as Dubai Sports City hosts Michel Salgado’s 24-hour (MS24H) Tournament, the first football tournament of its kind in the Middle East. The seven-a-side tournament will feature 24 teams competing in the group stages before moving to the knockout rounds starting at 8pm on December 11 with the final commencing at 8pm on December 12. “This is an idea from Michel (former Real Madrid and World Cup star) himself. It’s a very popular tradition in Europe and Spain in particular, that he wants to bring to the Middle East on an annual basis,” said Adam Griffiths, programme and tournaments development executive.

Different opportunities

Winner of the MS24H tournament will take home Dh20,000 while the runners-up pocket Dh10,000. The team finishing third will win Dh5,000. All the matches will be played in the fully air -conditioned indoor dome.

“Football in general is on the rise in the Middle East through a great number of initiatives. Many different opportunities are given to people of the UAE to enjoy the beautiful game. This is another opportunity, but one like no other, 24hrs football,” said Griffiths.

MS24H has partnered with Cedars Hospital Jebel Ali who will provide medical support.
