Dubai: Technical glitches in a newly launched smartphone application by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have now been fixed, a top official has confirmed.

Motorists who downloaded and installed the ‘Smart Park’ app, unveiled last week in a major upgrade of RTA’s mobile services, said they were facing difficulties accessing and using the app. However according to Ahmed Bahrozyan, the CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency and Head of their Smart App team, most issues with the app have now been resolved. “Yes we have been aware of these problems since we got contacted by customers directly. We have already applied the fixes to overcome most of these issues. Some of the issues are common while others are specific to certain customers and their phones,” he told XPRESS.

“An update was implemented on both iOS and Android devices late last week, resolving several issues customers were facing while another (update) is due shortly,” he added. Several motorists however continue to face problems with the app in all IOS, Android and BlackBerry platforms.

“I could manage to log in to the application once and even buy parking credit worth Dh30, but since then every time I have tried logging in, I failed to connect, forget being able to pay for parking with the app,” claims iPhone user Mike Furtado, an Indian sales executive who downloaded the app on September 14, the day it was launched along with four other RTA smartphone applications.

Another user, Filipino Ryan Detarro, said he has not able to use the app even once on his Android phone. “I tried logging in several times, but every time there was a connection failure and the server was not accessible,” he said.
