DUBAI A 43-year-old Indian expat was arrested in New Delhi on March 11 after a Dubai resident accused him of stalking her at Indira Gandhi International Airport, according to the Indian press.

A report in the daily Indian Express said the 32-year-old woman, who works for a private firm in Dubai, reportedly missed her flight to the emirate and was arguing with airline staff at Terminal 3 when the man, who was on his way to the US, began to praise her.

“The woman asked him to keep quiet, but he continued talking to her and misbehaving. Then the woman approached security personnel at the airport,” the report said.

It quoted a police official as saying that the man, who was in an inebriated state, was arrested under Indian Penal Code Section 354 (d).

The Section states that: “A man who follows a woman and contacts or attempts to contact a woman to foster personal interaction repeatedly despite a clear indication or disinterest by such a woman commits the offence of stalking.”

Delhi Police have asked the airport operator to provide CCTV footage as evidence, the report added.
