Dubai: If making small cardboard houses on a dummy beachfront with plastic palm trees wasn’t among your 101 ideas of how to become a millionaire overnight, you may want to think again.

While a slew of local real estate developers were busy closing deals worth millions, if not billions of dollars, over three days of Cityscape Global 2013 that ends today, an exclusive few were on the money — those who designed some of the snazziest, tallest and most conspicuous 3-D models of realty projects due for completion or launched at the Middle East’s largest annual realty event.

“Model prices vary from thousands to millions of dirhams. Size plays a major factor in prices, but generally a [3-D design model] project can cost a client anywhere between Dh40,000 and Dh1 million,” said Krestina Soshnina, sales and marketing manager of 3dr Models involved in making the lion’s share of Cityscape models.

The Dubai-based company boasts a clientele spanning several countries and 194 companies, including almost all local majors from DWTC to Emaar to Zabeel.

CEO Dani Bterrani rates Meraas Blue Waters, RTA-Dubai Water Canal, Meydan Master plan, Dubai Properties-JBR and Skai-Viceroy Hotel among their top creations this Cityscape.

The company had 85 staff at Cityscape. “3dr Models had more than 38 models to install all within a day, as models are installed last,” said Bterrani.
