DUBAI A Dubai court sentenced a ‘Mama Sang’ (female pimp) to five years in jail and four of her cohorts to three years after they were found guilty of human trafficking and forcing women into prostitution.
The judge heard that 39-year-old Filipina J.S. who was known as ‘Mama Sang’ lured fellow countrywomen into the flesh trade under the guise of finding them jobs in Dubai. Court records showed that the woman offered the girls jobs as saleswomen and waitresses. As soon as they arrived in Dubai, she confiscated their passports and forced them to have sex with strangers for money.
Five victims were locked up in an apartment in Al Muraqqabat. One of the victims told the court: “We made a pact one night that if one of us were to escape, that person must call the police.”
That same night, one of the girls got away and contacted the police, leading to the arrest of four women including J.S. and a 36-year-old pimp. All will be deported after serving jail time.
