Dubai: The wait is over. All you little monsters out there, your moment of reckoning has finally arrived. It’s time to meet your ‘mother monster’ – Lady Gaga.

Dubbed the “Queen of Pop” by Rolling Stone, Gaga is in the middle of her fourth headlining concert tour, ArtRave: The Artpop Ball Tour, in support of her third studio album Artpop (2013), and brings her show for the first time ever to the Middle East. Dubai, to be precise!

For the record, Gaga has global album and single sales of 27 million and 125 million respectively as of June 2014, making her one of the best-selling musicians of all time. She was named one of the world’s most influential people by Time in 2010. Her achievements also include five Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Video Music Awards.

Known for constantly reinventing her image through outrageous outfits, to the extent of being labelled “weird”, she has successfully crafted her art of how to grab headlines.

Here are interesting snippets about Lady Gaga we thought you must know if you are going to the show:

1 She has six tattoos, all of which are on the left side of her body as per request of her father to keep one side of her body clean.

2 Gaga often carries a purple teacup and saucer in public. “I drank tea with my mum, [so teacups] make me feel at home,” she once told People magazine.

3 Gaga prefers to rock the no-pants look so that her nearly blind grandmother can see her when she is on TV. “My grandmother is basically blind, but she can make out the lighter parts, like my skin and hair,” Gaga once told Rolling Stone. “She says, ‘I can see you, because you have no pants on.’ So I’ll continue to wear no pants so my grandma can see me.”

4 What made her dye her hair blonde? She was once mistaken for Amy Winehouse during an interview so she dyed her hair dark blonde. “I want to be known for my own look,” she said. She’s definitely achieved that.

5 Lady Gaga graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart high school in New York. It’s the same school that Nicky and Paris Hilton attended. It is also the school seen in the TV show Gossip Girl.

6 The diner in the video for Telephone is the same that appears in the cop show NCIS.

7 Her track Telephone was initially written for Britney Spears and it was supposed to be a track on Britney’s Circus album, but it was dropped.

8 She used to work in seedy clubs. “I was working in strip clubs when I was 18,” she said. “Girls from my background weren’t meant to turn into someone like me… My act was pretty wild.”

During her early time at Interscope, she worked as a songwriter for fellow label artists like Britney Spears – quicksand, Blur for the album circus.

9 She was bullied at school. When she made the cover of Vogue, she Tweeted: “They used to call me ‘rabbit teeth’ and now I’m a real live VOGUE BEAUTY QUEEN.”

10 She rehearses vocally every day with the same coach she has had since she was 11.
