Dubai Around 1,000 Dubai-residents are expected to learn different forms of yoga at a two-day Yoga Fest which begins at Dubai Internet City Amphitheatre from February 22-23.

A brainchild of expat Elaine Kelly, the festival is in its third year.

“It all started with the aim of getting people out of their offices and experience yoga in an outdoor environment. The first year we had around 300 people. This time we’re expecting over a thousand people,” said Elaine, a certified Vinayasa flow yoga teacher.

There will be over 40 yoga and meditation sessions, including yoga for kids and music concerts. Elaine says the festival aims to demystify various concepts of physical, mental and spiritual disciplines. “Yoga has become immensely popular these days. I want to demystify its concepts so that more people are encouraged to go for it.”

Those looking for meditation can take their pick from sound energy healing, art of living meditation and healing with thoughts. The festival will have gong and singing bowl concerts where ‘The Dancing Wu Li Masters’ performance ensemble, directed by Lawrence Michael Enderle, will perform with ancient and contemporary instruments.

“It is also a sustainable event which means that only companies with minimal negative impact on the environment are participating. Also, whatever donations we get would be given to charitiy for children,” says Elaine.
