Shahid Kapur's new film with Kareena Kapoor, Jab We Met, comes at a time when she has walked out of his life. The star talks about the movie and more.

Isn't it ironic that your most romantic film, Jab We Met (When we Met), with Kareena is releasing at a time when you two have split?

A lot has been written about Kareena and me. It's causing immense distress to me and my family. I don't want to talk about it right now.

There are reports suggesting that the split has been stage-managed to hype the movie?

That's not true. In any case, I don't think such tactics work.
This is your fourth movie with Kareena after Fida, 36 China Town and Chup Chup Ke.

What are your expectations?

Jab We Met is an out-and-out romantic comedy. I am confident it will do well.

Wouldn't a title which is half English and half Hindi alienate suburban audiences?

I don't think so. On the contrary, it will appeal to both metropolitan and small town audiences. In fact, it was my dad Pankaj Kapur who suggested the title.

What's your role in the movie?

I play a heartbroken industrialist.

Which other movies are you looking forward to?

Quite a lot actually. There is Aziz Mirza's Lucky Charms, a musical romantic with Vidya Balan, and Nagesh Kukunoor's thriller Tasveer. Something interesting is coming up with Raj Kumar Santoshi as well.
