Dubai: More than 12,000 incidents of lost items were reported by taxi passengers last year.

Even though the number was less than half compared to those in 2010, the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has taken an initiative to bring it down even further.

An initiative, called “Remember” has been launched to bring down cases of lost items and increase the rate of found items.

Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of DTC, said: “The initiative is currently being promoted by paying a number of official and friendly visits to various government and private entities, including Dubai Airports, hotels, malls and open markets, to explain the idea and objectives of this initiative and how to make suggestions, observations or report cases by contacting RTA Call Center (8009090) or visiting DTC website.”

The DTC also asked passengers to be careful about their belongings and ask for an invoice before disembarking from taxis so that it is easier to find items that are lost. The receipt contains important trip data, like the taxi side number, cab driver’s number, trip cost, as well as the trip’s date and time.
