The sandstorm on Friday in Dubai didn’t stop fans from enjoying their date with American pop rock band Train at the du World Music Festival. The show kicked off around 9.15pm with the sound of a speeding train in the background.

The band kicked off with the upbeat track ‘50 Ways To Say Goodbye’ to warm up and get the crowd moving. The song’s mariachi-influenced brass parts and guitar accompaniment helped set the tone for a night of dancing and was also easily one of the favourites of the evening. Patrick Monahan, the band’s lead singer, also savoured the moment, taking photos of the crowd waving their mobile phones, as he performed ‘If It’s Love’, urging them with song’s lyrics: “Hold our cell phones up in the air and just be glad that we made it here alive…”

The Dubai Media City Amphitheatre was not as jam-packed as when the Eraserheads performed the night before, but the audience was equally engaged. Some members of the audience were even invited by the band to join them on stage. Monahan also gave out red t-shirts to the crowd, signing one shirt which he gave to a lucky fan.

The band performed their famous hits ‘Drops of Jupiter’, ‘Hey Soul Sister’, ‘Calling All Angels’, and also did renditions of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and Fun’s ‘We Are Young’. The concert ended past 10pm leaving fans with another great Train moment.
