Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor said in an interview published Monday that she’s as good as married to boyfriend and fellow actor Saif Ali Khan and that their much written about wedding will just formalise that. She wouldn’t say when the wedding would take place.
Over the last few months there has been a media frenzy speculating when the two will get married. News reports have said the wedding will be some time in October.
The 32-year-old told the Hindustan Times newspaper that she and Khan have been living together for five years and own their home jointly.
“Saif and I just cannot fathom the hype around the wedding,” she told the newspaper.
Bollywood, with its focus on love stories mostly about young people, has in the past had little room for married leading ladies, but Kapoor says she’s not disheartened by this trend.
“Who knows! I may be the game changer!” she said.
“I would never compromise my career for my love or vice versa. They are two separate paths in my life,” she added.
Kapoor is the fourth generation of her family to be acting in Bollywood films. Khan is the son of Sharmila Tagore, a famous actress from the 1960s and 70s, and Mansour Ali Khan Pataudi, a former captain of the Indian cricket team.
