Bollywood poet and lyricist Gulzar and theatre director Salim Arif will bring a series of plays to Dubai in a three-day fiesta from January 15 to 17 at Ductac, Centrepoint Theatre, in Mall Of The Emirates.

The first day will see the staging of Kharaashein, a collage of Gulzar’s literary creations and poetry, that touches upon topics such as the relationships that evolve in a riot-inflicted situation (Khuda-Haafiz) and a story of partition (Raavi-Paar) among others.

The next day at 7pm, Sunte Ho — a dramatisation of Rabindranath Tagore’s short story Streer Patro, and Gulzar’s story Mard, which highlights the status of women and how she has been treated by men — will be staged. On January 17 at 4pm, the focus will be on comedy as Gulzar attempts to de-mystify O Henry’s creations by adapting a quartet of comic plays against the Indian context.

The final night Rubaru (Face To Face) on January 17 at 8pm will give you an opportunity to spend an evening with the maestro Gulzar. He will participate in an In Conversation With session and answer questions about his creative quest and poetic inclinations. The interaction will be followed by Gulzar reciting a selection of his own poems.

Tickets to the first two nights cost Dh125, Dh250, Dh350 and Dh500 and the tickets for the Rubaru session costs Dh150, Dh300, Dh450 and Dh650. For details, contact 04-3692128, 056-2746089, 055-9100468.
