After watching ‘Dabangg 2’, I can safely say that it is not really different from the first film. The only major differences being that the great Chulbul Pandey is now performing his funky dance steps and showing off his body in the city of Kanpur instead of the village Laalgunj.

Film review: Dabangg 2
Robin Hood Pandey turns into Kung Fu Pandey in this sequel to the hit film
The story takes off where the earlier instalment ended. Pandey (Salman Khan)is a family man now. He is transferred to Kanpur, where he mingles with the elite, while retaining his simplistic flavour and values. Pandey gets into conflict with Baccha Bhaiyya (Prakash Raj), a criminal turned politician who is aided by his two brothers Chunni (Nikitin Dheer) and Gainda (Deepak Dobriyal). As he did in the first flick, which is one of the highest grossing films of all time, Khan aka Kung Fu Pandey (as he is famously known in this film) comes hard on the criminals and notoriously robs the rich and helps the poor. The film does take a turn of unfortunate events in the middle, but of course, being a complete masala entertainment, it ends on a happy note.
Khan is at his entertaining best, whether its his unrealistic action scenes or hilarious dance moves. Of course, the entire movie revolves around him, but he still manages to bring a smile on your face with his ‘style’. Sonakshi Sinha, the eye candy of the film is just that, besides appearing in two crucial scenes. I had high expectations from Raj after his brilliant performance in ‘Singham’, but it looks like director Arbaaz Khan has seen to it that the limelight is not taken away from his brother. Although Raj performs exceptionally well in a negative role, he is overshadowed by Khan and his histrionics.
‘Dabangg 2’ is a typical Bollywood masala entertainer. If you loved the first part, you may feel a little disappointed in the second as the movie doesn’t match up. But if you’re a true Khan fan, you will be mesmerised by his screen presence, especially if you’re not expecting a story that makes much sense.
