The singer, who has surrogate son Zachary, is expecting a second child
Zachary is now 23 months old, and John was “over the moon” when he heard about the second baby, reports thesun.co.uk.
The surrogate is due to give birth next year.
“Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life. Naturally, she has been well-rewarded. But her identity will never be revealed,” a source close to the pair said.
The mother, believed to have been recruited via the Center for Surrogate Parenting in Encino in California, is said to be already “several months” pregnant.
Zachary will have turned two by the time his sibling arrives. He was born Dec 25, 2010.
The source confirmed John, 65, and Furnish, 50, had been making preparations for the second child.
Earlier, John had said they were keen to have a sibling for Zachary.
“At what stage we don’t know. But we definitely will. I don’t want him to be an only child,” he had said.
