Dubai-based network announces five new channels
OSN’s three new English and two Arabic channels will launch on January 1 next year
The new channels include factual programming channel Discovery World, the adventure-focused Fuel TV and style and lifestyle channel Fine Living. Two new Arabic channels, OSN Ya Hala Shabab and OSN Ya Hala Arabella, will also be added, both in HD while high definition versions of existing channels, Discovery, E! and ITV will take the network’s HD offering to 36 channels, the company said.
OSN Ya Hala Shabab will focus on programming targeted at Arab youth while OSN Ya Hala Arabella will be a telenovella channel featuring high rated series dubbed in Arabic, it added.
“Our research shows that high definition is cited as one of the top five features desired by viewers,” said Ema Morcos, vice president of business development at OSN.
David Butorac, CEO, added: “Arabic content is one of the top ranked reasons people enjoy OSN, and following the success of OSN Ya Hala! HD launched last year, it was time to further enhance our Arabic offer with fresh, exclusive content.”
