Ever thought of a post-apocalyptic Dubai? One film director has, and he’s turning it into a sci-fi film.
In ‘The Sons of Two Suns’, a short by S.A. Zaidi, two suns burn over Dubai some time in the future. The city is devastated and empty, save for three survivors who are fighting to find shelter and stay alive.
“They are the ones who dare to come out and find a shelter,” said Zaidi, who introduced his film at the Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) on Friday, along with Emirati producer Ganem Gobash and his cast.
The film will premiere at the Gulf Film Festival, which kicks off in Dubai on April 11.
Zaidi, a Dubai-based independent filmmaker, said the 10-minute film cost Dh36,000 to make.
“We’ve had more than 60,000 views on YouTube ever since we launched the trailer, so we’re very excited with the buzz it’s created and can’t wait to finally show it,” he added.
“We also wanted to show people that such a film is possible in Dubai and want to take it to the world.”
