Mumbai: From Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif to newbies like Ayushmann Khurrana, Arjun Kapoor and Yami Gautam — creme da la creme of Bollywood ramped up the glamour quotient at the Big Star Entertainment Awards held here Sunday night.

The most deserving entertainers and achievers across 27 categories, including film, television, music, dance and sports were honoured at the ceremony held at the Andheri Sports Complex.

Those who graced the glitzy gala with their presence were Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Anurag Basu, Arjun Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Prabhudheva, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, Sonu Nigam among others.

Kareena Kapoor, who also performed at the awards, looked elegant in all-black outfit as she walked the red carpet and posed for photographers.

“I go to awards for performances. I have been called here for performance as well. I like to dance, of course, I can’t dance as much as [sister] Karisma ]Kapoor]. But dance has its own excitement for me. So when people call me to perform, I like it,” said Kareena.

The actress, who earned rave reviews for her performance in “Heroine”, attributes her success to her fans.

“I think whatever we are today is because of our loyal fans who go to watch our films. Like I am a director’s actor, I am a fans’ actor too,” she added.

Priyanka Chopra, who earned critical acclaim for her role in “Barfi!”, called the year 2012 a bit “confusing”.

“2012 was a mixed year for us. We have lost many legends. This will be a big loss for Bollywood, while at the same time films have been very successful. So it’s been a very confusing year,” said Chopra, who looked stunning in a red gown.

Still riding high on the success of her film, “Cocktail”, Deepika Padukone said she will have to thank Santa Claus for giving her such a lovely 2012.

“I agree it was a big year. My film ‘Cocktail’ was successful plus I have signed interesting films for next year as well. Hopefully 2013 is a good year to look forward to,” she said.

Actor Arjun Kapoor, who made his debut in Bollywood with “Ishaqzaade”, said he still couldn’t believe people liked his film so much.

“I still can’t believe. I am so happy that people liked our film,” said Arjun.

Ayushmann Khurrana, who won the Most Entertaining Actor (Film) Debut - Male award for “Vicky Donor”, said that now the bar for him has been raised and next year will be even more challenging.

“I am so grateful that the industry has accepted people from outside. This was an eventful year for me. Next year will be harder as the challenge begins now,” he said.
