After performing at one of the most anticipated events of the year, Kylie Minogue rocked Dubai's Festival City on Friday night.

The night before, she was the headline act at the private opening of the Atlantis Hotel, but after an energetic 90-minute performance for her fans, you never would have guessed. The event was Minogue's first concert in the Middle East, and more than 15,000 fans from across the UAE turned out in force to see the pint-sized Australian pop princess.

And the songstress didn't disappoint, going through more than six costumes changes while the popular tunes all made an appearance. The audience got to see how Spinning Around and Slow were meant to be performed, and Minogue had everyone singing along to the addictive Can't Get You Out of My Head.

As well as delivering a number of the old favourites, the diva took the show a step further with a dramatic show tune performance of the Copacabana — complete with dancers acting out each part.

Step Back in Time proved a huge hit with the audience, whose screams and cheers filled the marina walk at Festival City.

Kylie rose to fame in the late 1980s through her role in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, before commencing a career as a recording artist in 1987. She later signed a contract with British songwriters and producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman and achieved a string of hit records throughout the world.

The usual queues were probably the only downside as people lined up for hours in order to buy coupons for food and drink. But even this didn't seem to put a dampener on the night.

Enjoying highs and lows through the '90s, there was no doubt Kylie is back on top after an impressive performance in Dubai.

Clearly an expensively mounted stage show, the costume changes were enough to rival the best. She opened the show with a classy black number, which was soon whipped off and replaced with sailorgirl and cheerleader outfits. The feathers of the Copacabana came out in force as well as sexy red number that made temperature rise.

Minogue might have been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 before returning to performing and recording in late 2006 after a period of convalescence, but you never would have known she was ever sick after her performances here.

Tired after an hour-long performance at Atlantis just the previous night, she smiled, chatted with the crowd, got everyone singing along, and gave it her all.

Minogue's was a concert which won't be forgotten any time soon.
