Sanaa: Thirty people, including eight children and five women committed suicide in Yemen last month, Yemen’s Interior Ministry said.

16 of the people were aged 18 to 35 and eight were 11 to 17, and only six of them were above 36-years-old. The people used different methods to end their lives, including hanging themselves, using guns, swallowing poisonous materials and jumping from high places. The ministry said that the main motives behind the suicide incidents are family, economical and psychological problems.

The deaths occurred in 13 provinces; five in Hudieda, five in Shabwa and four cases in Sanna and Aden. The ministry also recorded 13 incidents in which people tried to commit suicide.

Early this year, the ministry said that 235 people, including 24 children, committed suicide in 2011 in comparison to 292 people committed suicide in 2010 in different parts of the poverty-stricken country.
