10,000 Hygiene kits and food packages distributed to workers

Dubai – Over 10,000 hygiene kits and food packages were distributed to labourers on Friday at Gurunanak Darbar Jebel Ali Gardens.

The charity initiative, which was in line with Diwali celebrations, was organised by the Gurunanak Darbar Sikh Temple and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in memory of Dr. Robert Bateman, President of the Abu Dhabi Stake of the church.

Buses were provided to transport workers from their accommodations to the Jebel Ali Gardens, and back home after the event.

Kulwant Singh, CEO and Managing Director of Lama group told Gulf News, that the “interfaith humanitarian project” is a corporate social responsibility initiative that aims to connect people of different religions through a common cause.

“The hygiene kits will include everything from utilities, toothbrushes, combs and toiletries, to detergent, towels and soaps. The food packages will also include rice and lentils and other items,” said Singh.

The initiative will help thousands of labourers in need.

The kits and food packets will also be given to the poor, who can’t afford or lack access to basic items and simple meal. These kits help prevent disease and promote good health and dignity.

“We plan to carry out more initiatives like this in the future that focus on helping people in our community,” added Singh.
