Dubai: The UAE is preparing young people to be ranked first in all fields by allowing them to discuss the issues most relevant to their future and to find appropriate solutions to the challenges they face, Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth, said.

The minister was speaking at the opening day’s session on Monday at the two-day Youth Retreat called by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as a forum for young Emiratis to discuss issues and gain insights relevant to their ambitions and aspirations.

“The UAE leadership believes in number one and always seeks to be at the forefront in all domains,” said Al Mazroui.

Al Mazroui said Emirati youth are instrumental in designing a bright future for the nation and for themselves. They are the country’s hope and its future, she said.

“Today, the youth are engaged in discussing issues that concern them. These issues form the main themes of the Youth Retreat where they generate creative and sustainable ideas for their future and for the generations to come,” she said.

The minister thanked all officials, policy makers and experts who engaged with youth in their debates and enriched brainstorming sessions with their expertise and ideas, which will help young people come up with effective recommendations to build their society.

She said the suggestions and ideas proposed by young Emiratis during the retreat will be taken into consideration to create an environment that enables Emirati youth to be future leaders and effective members in the nation’s sustainable development.

On its first day, the youth retreat held debates on a range of issues, including youth and education, entrepreneurship, safety, interaction, responsibility, Emirati values, health and productivity.

The minister expressed confidence that the youth retreat will generate a host of applicable recommendations.

“These ideas will be turned into action on the ground and utilised to help youth achieve their national aspirations,” Al Mazroui said.
