When Ramadan starts, people around the world begin a journey together. As confident supporters to strengthen community spirits, Synergy supported by Naji Al Radhi, Head of Waste Treatment Section at Dubai Municipality, carefully planned the “Convoy to Feed 2013”. We visited the Al Qusais landfill and distributed 130 food packages amongst the scrap collection labourers and Dubai Municipality staff working on site. We are giving out iftar meals, cereals, tea, laban (a yoghurt-based drink) and water this Ramadan.

Going without food, drink, snacks and other habitual amenities from sunrise to sunset is observed on a daily basis for the whole month. We hope to make the iftar and ending the fast a real delight. Synergy members also promoted the important message to reduce food wastage during iftar time.

We chose the landfill sites because we recently planted several trees at one of the landfills and understood how much hard work these people have to put in on a daily basis. The iftar meals were our way to express gratitude and share time with them during Ramadan.

This year, Ramadan is a warm month for most of us around the world and there are millions of people who still have a very tough few days ahead of them. If we keep coming together as a community, it will definitely strengthen harmony.

Synergy will plan similar type of activity at other sites aiming to distribute around 500 packages during Ramadan.
