Posters on street lights and building walls are tarnishing the image of the capital, according to Gulf News reader Vedant Pradeep. Vedant Image Credit: Pradeep/Gulf News Reader

Advertisements abound in various areas of Abu Dhabi and an ugly environment is the price we pay.

Of late, posters seeking availability of flats can be seen on phone booths and street lights.

Necessity may have been the mother of this invention but it definitely spoils the image of the city.

Notice boards and the classifieds sections in newspapers or the internet are much more appropriate solutions. But most people prefer to take this easy approach. This is a recent trend and the tendency to put up advertisements should be curbed immediately in order to keep our surroundings clean.

The enforcement of regulations, a safe environment and clean surroundings are feathers in the cap of the UAE.

It really requires appreciation on the part of each resident and we must take the initiative to help maintain the standard of living.
