Young people don’t follow

The present generation does not acknowledge the Nobel Prize and its contributions to society and the world that these people have made. Ask them about Miss Universe or Kim Kardashian and they can answer. Unfortunately, many young people don’t keep up with this honour.

More about politics

It’s a political award rather than a gauge for measuring genuine achievements. Some of the people that have won a Nobel Prize are really undeserving, but for one reason or another, politics made it happen.

It is effective

I agree with you in a way, Mr Tajamul Hussain Turi. If we look at Aung San Suu Kyi, the current opposition leader in Myanmar, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in order to gain international attention to her cause and get her off house arrest. If that’s not playing politics, I don’t know what is. Did she deserve it? I don’t know. Did her award bring international attention and put pressure on the Myanmar government to release her and other political prisoners? Yes it did.

More relevant today

Of course it is relevant, and I would even say that it’s more relevant than before.

The commitment

Of course, it’s an achievement. The amount of work and commitment to go into these efforts to do something good for the world cannot simply be negated. Not to mention, these awards push people with great ideas to do something good.

Already chosen

Not ‘of course’, Mr Kumar Sitlani. Winners are all but already chosen. German Counsellor Angela Merkel is likely to receive it eventually for helping refugees and displaced people. But, Turkey is currently holding more than 2,000,000 refugees and homeless people. In such a circumstance, no one is intending to reward Turkey’s leaders for a Nobel Prize.

How is this peace?

I don’t think it’s relevant. President Barack Obama received one, yet he still chose to bomb Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. I’m sure I missed a few.
