Always give children attention

There is nothing more rewarding than to have your own children, to hold and cherish and love them (‘Children of divorcing parents most vulnerable’, Gulf News, June 26). To pay attention, discipline them with guidance so that they can be good and loving adults one day. It doesn’t matter if you divorce. Both parents should be still involved in the child’s upbringing. Pay attention to a child. No attention always results in a problem child. After work in the evenings, even when parents are tired, give them your undivided attention and love. You will see the rewards in your children when they are older.

Children need care

I agree with Ms Elize Vols Quaint. Parents need to always give their children attention, even after divorce. Two things hurt me as a child. The first was my parents not divorcing when they should have and having to live in a home with that tension. The second was how after the divorce finally happened, they both took care of themselves, which left me to take care of myself. I wasn’t a problem child, but I also wouldn’t say that it didn’t affect me.

Volunteering

If it is possible, the authorities should share information on how residents can participate in looking after these children. As little as spending time with them. It will mutually benefit these children and visitors.

More hate crimes?

Unfortunately, the result of the election will most likely result in ever more hate crimes where now Britons are openly telling anyone who they don’t associate with to go back home, as they voted to leave (‘Brexit vote shows UK is at war with itself’, Gulf News, June 26)!

Blame the EU

Europe has become a different place from what it was – and not for the better. The Europe Union (EU) has started to push countries to accept and not accept things. Also, they are trying to destroy the very cultures of those countries. That is why Europe has no future. Also, let’s not blame people and how they choose to live in their own backyard. I’m sure no one would not accept if I started to teach them how to clean their house.

Wait and see

There is no second chance. After the referendum and the exit of Britain from the EU, there have been a lot of mixed reactions from Britons around the world. People saying that Britain should not have left after four decades of membership to the EU. Others are happier that Britain left from the EU for better days to come. Analysts are saying that corporate business houses and others will suffer and that the UK currency will suffer. Whatever be the consequences, Britain is going to face it and we will have to wait and see.

Preparing for real situations

I would also advise all instructors to teach people how to drive in all possible real situations (‘RTA fines 57 driving instructors for not complying with codes’, Gulf News, June 27). Why are some failing their driving examination so many times? I think it’s because instructors do not teach properly. Confidence will come with the right experience. It is the job of instructors to build the skills in the trainees.

Developing confidence

Yes, you are right, Ms Dilya Melikova. However, some of them don’t have confidence in themselves, which is why people fail. That needs to develop before they are given their licence.

Under observation

Cameras in each car is a must as to see how they behave with the learners. We need to accurately assess and monitor their work, if they slacken and what information they tell their students.

No small feat

Good job to the Roads and Transport Authorities (RTA). Finding 57 instructors not complying with codes is no small feat.

Angry teachers

There certainly are instructors that need to be replaced with someone with better methods. Some of them are not nice. They get angry when teaching.

Instructor asleep!

One time while I was driving, I saw an instructor asleep and the student was in the outside lane holding up all the traffic. It’s about time something was done. I’m just glad I passed my examination on the first go in the UK.

Eating less gluten

I think it’s a good idea to avoid gluten for suhoor (‘Suhour recipe of the day: Gluten-free pizza’, Gulf News, June 26). I know a lot of people who have cut gluten from their diet and they feel that they are less bloated and less tired and drowsy. It seems it’s not only allergies that need to be a reason to cut gluten. We all tend to eat too much of everything and we can get our required carbohydrates in other forms very easily. It wouldn’t be easy though! Bread is delicious!

Are we really surprised?

Is it really so surprising that cancer is a major killer (‘Top causes of death among UAE residents’, Gulf News, June 27)? People need to be more careful with their lives. You can’t always think that it won’t happen to you when you smoke so much, sun tan so much, eat so poorly and exercise so little. It’s true that cancer could happen to the healthiest of people, but we can seriously minimise our chances by making certain life choices.

Dealing with stress

It has to do with tension. People having too much stress in their lives end up developing certain types of cancer. It has something to do acidity levels, lack of sleep and many other factors, I believe. Everyone needs to learn how to manage their stress if they want to live a long and healthy life.

Trump is dangerous

Donald Trump is a kind of terrorist because his thoughts are extreme and dangerous (‘Trump says Muslim ban plan to focus on ‘terrorist’ countries’, Gulf News, June 27). He is promoting hate, intolerance and violence through his speeches to millions of people who listen to him.

How we were created

When people alter parts of their bodies, they lose the sensitivity in these parts (‘Circumcision victim’s mother sent back to jail’, Gulf News, June 27)! God knows as to why we were created this way, it’s sinful to change who we are, so how can people find logic in such horrendous acts?
