No refund for cancelled ticket

I have a serious complaint against Emirates airlines. I was planning a business trip to Brazil in October, 2015 and had purchased a refundable ticket. The amount to be refunded minus the relevant penalty amounted to 4,520.80 Brazilian Real (BRL) (Dh4,095).

I cancelled my ticket on time and had duly requested the refund. Afterwards I got a mail from Emirates stating that my request was accepted and that I will get my refund soon.

Since October I have been trying to fight with Emirates regarding this refund but got absolutely nothing till now. I got several mails from Emirates saying that Sao Paulo office will contact me, however neither Dubai nor Brazil office could help me with this.

This is the first time that I am very disappointed with Emirates and kindly ask Gulf News to help me sort this out.

From Mr Arindam De

Dubai

The management of Emirates responds:

Emirates provides prompt and timely refunds for eligible tickets once we receive the customer’s request accompanied by required documentation. With reference to Mr De’s refund, the full amount of BRL 4,520.80 has been refunded and credited back to his credit card account, and the case is now closed. Emirates apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Mr De responds:

Finally on January 7, 2016 I have received my refund pending from October 1, 2015 from Emirates airlines. It took me more than three months to get it though I have received all relevant confirmations from Emirates in October itself. I guess that the issue was arising from the Sao Paulo office and not from Dubai.

I would like to thank Gulf News for its help.
