I received a credit card from Emirates Islamic Bank (EIB), despite never requesting it. When I received the card on August 23, 2015, from Empost, I immediately took it to EIB’s Jebel Ali branch and spoke to the customer service representative, who told me that I would need to call their call centre and raise a request to cancel the card. I called them up on August 30 and raised a complaint asking how a bank could issue a credit card without my knowledge and without my acceptance?

Then, on September 2, I received a call from their agent, who took down a confirmation of my complaint and placed a request, so that I could be called to cancel the card. On September 3, I received a call from another agent who first tried to convince me that the card is free for life, but actually it was only free for the first year. Then finally, when I told him that I need to cancel the card and that I need a confirmation of this process, he told me rudely that I should call up the call centre and check.

Why should I chase something that I never wanted in the first place? If the card goes into the wrong hands and lies unattended without my knowledge, one day I will be in big trouble. I am upset with EIB.
