I have made a payment to my credit card, through Al Ansari Exchange with additional charges from Ansari Exchange, towards the annual fee of credit card. The card wasn’t even used once.

To my surprise, the bank had charged me Dh2,000 in November for all the non-payments on annual fees - something I paid using Ansari Exchange on time.

To avoid the issue, I paid again Dh200 in an Ajman Bank ATM. Hence, I request the bank to intervene and clear the issue. It is unethical to pay Dh2,000 for not paying Dh200 of annual fees, which was also paid by me on time through one of the best exchange houses in the UAE.

The case has been pending and I am haunted to pay the high amount every day. My request is that when I paid on time. Why should I pay all the charges? I even paid extra for the service.

From Mr Sreenivasu Konda

The management of Ajman Bank responds:

The customer has an outstanding amount for the Credit Card Annual Membership Fee, the Credit Shield, the Monthly Membership Fees and the Late Payment Fees for the months of September, October, November and December.

The accumulation of the above fees started when the customer missed his Credit Card Annual Membership Fee payment day, which was due on September 2015, claiming that he was informed that the card is free for life, which was not the case. The fees were paid after the due dates, which didn’t prevent the additional charges.

The customer was contacted on numerous occasions by the bank to settle his outstanding, which he didn’t.

As a goodwill gesture from Ajman Bank, we are working on reversing the disputed amount on the credit card.

Mr Konda responds:

They didn’t mentioned the payments I made to them. I was informed about the fee, but they charged even though I went and paid the payments through the exchange centre and again after a few days from the ATM.

The receipt is attached in previous emails. It seems the bank ignored all the email since they are saying that I have not paid the annual membership, which is false. I have payment vouchers showing the time I paid.

So, please, ask the bank what happens to payments made for the first time and second time. If the payment is made, why should I pay the additional charges?

The management of Ajman Bank responds:

With reference to your email, kindly note that the case had been closed and the amount of Dh2,185.00 had been reversed to the customer.

Mr Konda Responds:

Thanks for support, Gulf News. My card is now cancelled and I am very happy because of Gulf News’ interference.
